The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2023 published by Shanghai Ranking includes rankings of more than 1900 universities in altogether 55 subjects. Many Finnish universities were again among the best 50 in specific subjects, three even gaining top 20 placements.
In this year's ranking, the highest Finnish top 20 slots in individual subjects were reached in the field of Business Administration, with Hanken School of Economics securing the 12th position, Aalto University the 17th and the University of Vaasa the 18th position globally.
In addition to the above, Aalto University made it to top 20 in Marine/Ocean Engineering, and the University of Helsinki in Ecology.
The top 50 range of individual subjects included the following Finnish universities:
- (Business Administration, Marine/Ocean Engineering, Textile Science and Engineering, Library & Information Science)
- (Ecology)
- (Library & Information Science)
- (Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering)
- (Business Administration)
- (Telecommunication Engineering)
- (Dentistry & Oral Sciences)
- (Business Administration)
When looking at the overall number of top 100 positions in individual subjects, the University of Helsinki, Aalto University and the University of Oulu were the overall strongest performers.
